MOL n' The Family

Schtick aside for the moment.

Rc_sergio_tsquare300 I can probably give you a laundry list of reasons why I love my buddy Rudy Carrasco (the one on the right)

  • We have a history of working together and threw a great event in SoCal one time
  • He has a great sense of humor that is all over his blog
  • He is a high minded visionary with a heart of gold
  • He sees the positives in piles of dung
  • He said this the day I was fired from my job " . . . man I am right here watching you, cuz someday a firestorm is going to hit me like it is hitting you right now . . ."
  • He lives sacrificially every day of his life
  • and now . . .
  • His son has leukemia.  Actually diagnosed sometime ago.

Samuel175 I have mentioned Sam in previous blogs and have asked you to pray for him.  And I would like to ask you again.  Yesterday Sam had to go back into the hospital with a high fever for the second time in a couple weeks.  And thus the life of the young parents (Rudy's wife is the great Kafi) who must track day to day with the up and down health of their young child.  Don't get me wrong, Sam is a strong young kid and I am extremely optimistic that he is going to fight through all the chemo etc and be a strapping kid playing liittle league and brushing back batters from the mound like his dad.

But that does not mean all this is without its cost.  I grew up in a house with a sick kid.  My brother was born and lived with Cystic Fibrosis.  And the fact that his health was always in flux changed everything . . . cost us time, money, attention and a "normal" household . . . whatever the hell that is.  Rudy runs a very sophisticated non profit in Pasadena and his wife runs the school that is attached.  They are very important and influential people in their community.  Money and time does not grow on trees for them.  And frankly with a young man going in and out of hospitals, chemo, dr's offices and pharmacies I can tell you from personal experience . . . they are praying for money to grow on trees almost literally.

Harambee_sep04_3 So it is with that I ask that you take a second and go glimpse at Sam's blog.  Light a candle or say a prayer for Sam today.  And maybe, if God has given you a fat wallet of late, why not click that Paypal button over there and help that young man fight leukemia.

MOL n' The Family

Sharks_smallCase Study:  The Sharks
Lesson One:  The Kenny Principle
Winning is ALWAYS important

Kenny
Kenny is the “out of control I need absolute attention right now even if it means you make me run laps at practice kind of kid.”  I could relate to him completely and loved him immediately.  And yes, I made that 7 year old run plenty of laps at practice.  But this kid was a study in "eager to please".  On several occasions I told Kenny mid game “I need a goal from you in the next five minutes” . . . and he would do it.  I told him before we were playing our greatest rival “Kenny I need at least two goals from you and probably three today”.  He got three.  We won.
Kennysignature_1
What I learned from Kenny
When he made a mistake or we were losing he was on the brink of tears.  When we were winning or he scored a goal, he was doing cartwheels and screaming while I was trying to address the team.  I learned not only is winning and doing well important but kids love it.

Lets face it; we live in a viciously capitalistic, entrepreneurial, self-dependent and solipsistic country.  The way you get ahead is look out for your self . . .WIN!  This is not France.  If your kid wants to be an artist, then so be it.  BUT teach her to WIN.  She will dislike you and become a better artist.

MOLezy it will be

Jonjon_1The fomer "Mol Junior" has laid down his sword and spoken:

I enjoyed the smack boys... As for fauss, it still kinda bugs me that you know so much about my personal life.  it's kinda michael jacksonish.  and my friend and i have decided that my title will be: MOLezy

Adios muchachos,
MOLezy

In fairness, when you have your site up I will prominently display your site right below the proprietor of YOUR generation TAIWAN SLAY and I invite MOL Junior himself to offer a place of prominence to you as a sort of MOL olive branch.

you are a big man Jon . . . in more ways than one

MOL n' The Family

Sharks_2

In the spirit of good taste and family values, I have decided to "clean up" my blog so to speak.  With the rampant cussing and sexual innuendos that have been flying around here by adult and teen alike I have decided that the only thing short of homeschooling for all you jackasses is a new and regular segment that I will call MOL n' The Family.

the purpose of these small blurbs will be remind you the reason you are here.  And to call you back to the innocent and less jaded days of youth . . . I will be inviting you back to a safe suburban cacoon that will allow you to mature and grow without the fear of being stained by the world of hate.

<>

Anticipated Questions:

  • What in the hell gives you any right or privelege to speak to family values?

Nothing

  • Why should we listen to you  . . . uuuhhh . . . you have no kids?

That's exactly why you should.  My views are a bit more objective.  i won't be giving dog raising advice even though I think I am a genius at it.  I am too close to my dog to be objective about it.  So I won't.  Besides, i will be drawing upon my years of experience mentoring kids at church, on the soccer field, in high schools, at Russian orphanages etc.

  • Could you look GAYer in that picture & is that your lover next to you?

NO, I am happily married and not gay . . . but the picture upon reflection certainly is.  That is my friend Jeff to my right and your left.  He is a good guy.

Stay Tuned

This is how we roll . . .

Jmitchpointbarley_1ok when my WHITE teenage cousin Jon Jon leaves THAT on my voicemail with buddy B-Rad thumping in the background to ODB or some verion of gangster rap I find myself relieved that MOL Rudy Carrasco has ruled as he has

Controversy (there really wasn't one I just didn't have anything better to do):  Who Gets Mol Jr.

Ruling:  "possession 9/10's of the law" - carrasco 1.3v4Rudy125_2

Best Smak of the Controversy:  SO TAKE A NUMBER... AND A SPOON!!!!  'CAUSE YOU'RE ABOUT TO BE SERVED (PS the spoons to eat my !@#$%!@#$!@#$!@#$!@#$)  He He He

Most Intelligent comment:  Drive by none other than Alan Dershowitz

Best Idea:  Fauss going back to his original RonFauss.com

A couple good options for Jon Jon -

  • OG MOL (carrasco) = old gangster MOL
  • MOL III (Stealth)
  • JonJonaintgonnagetmoljrsowhydoesn'thejustcomeupwithanotherone MOL (me)

Network Controversy

JmitchpointbarleyWith the EXPLOSIVE growth of the MOL network (readership, affiliates, friends etc) we may be confronting our first real conflict of a significant nature.  It seems EVERYONE wants in at one level or another.  As the founder of this idea, I just want to invite everyone to calm down a bit.

Here is the situation It seems that we have a one M.O.L. Junior who was the FIRST to ask to be a full-fledged affiliate member of the MOL network.  He did his due diligence

  • He asked permission from EL MOL
  • Ran his name by me
  • Bought a Typepad blog for $4.95 a month
  • Continues to give seminal credit to me on his site
  • He stays committed to EL MOL at the TOP of his links section
  • Posts more in one day than I do in a month
  • Has More comments from Jiff in a day than I do from anyone ever

Faussnoshirt_1
Other than an occasional post that needs el mol correction, his site has been nothing short of spectacular and fulfills the genius vision that is “celebrating the megalomaniacal overlord”. But this is where the rub comes in.  It seems as though last summer when My MOL cousin Jon-Jon came down for the second straight summer he began referring to himself as MOL Junior and I then I turn began referring to him as MOL Junior.  In addition, I have posted about me and “MOL Junior” and referred to jon jon as MOL Jr in this post that is dated BEFORE FAUSS ASKED FOR OR USED THE TERM MOL JR.

Two recent emails from cousin MOL:

Jonjon

EMAIL ONE:
what is this i see on your blog page.  I am the only true MOL Jr. and anyone else who thinks that i am wrong should shut his mouth, and i bet people will like him a lot better. Adios, Jon Jon (the real MOL Jr. !!!!!!!!)

EMAIL TWO:
Hey 'J' Jon-Jon here, how are things going with you?  I was just hired by a cabnet and closet maker and have more experience than half of the guys in there( thanks to iverson).  Anyways, i have also been asked to umpire again...and as you and i have established is the biggest MOL occupation one can achive, (besides donald trump).  i have decided to create a web page where i will be posting daily the arguments and reponces of my little league games.  the season doesn't start for a while, so i have not yet decided which company i will be using for my web page... but when i do i would like to regain the title of MOL Jr.  i'm not sure how this will be taken... give me some feedback on what i should do. Adios, Jon-Jon

Here is my cousin in a nutshell:

  • Besides being a punk ass senior in high school
  • He did hit a home run for the Journey softball team
  • Played poker at Man Group
  • Wrote a psuedo racist comment on my shop wall that demanded I get feedback from 2 of my 3 black friends (I covered it with a commie flag even after they said “it is not racist”)
  • Has email of JONSDABOMB@hotmail.com
  • Does own Fizzy Fuzzy Big and Buzzy by the Refreshments
  • Can kick all or our asses
  • Sold several knives from behind the counter at an Iverson Dealer in CA when he was supposed to be selling duck calls for me
  • Appreciates the cheese fries at snuffers
  • Stole Foust's 70's Disco CD

I have already made up my mind, but I need the readership (all three of you) to weigh in on this matter.   There is a chance I could change my mind.  I especially need the “proprietor of his generation” MOL slay to weigh in and get a handle on one of his own – MY COUSIN!!!!

Jack got the heisman

Oldmonkfood_1The Old Monk used to be a favorite hang out for me and the boys on occassion.  There were several genius aspects to this bar

One:  You could bring your dog to hang with you.  Now I know dog owners are more irritating than new parents in their obsession with their pets.  Jack does not get to come every time.  But it is nice to know when a dog needs a drink, he has a place to go.
Jack

How could you say no to this dog??!!

Two:  the wait staff were friendly and efficient

How about even a glance once an hour?

Three:  Cheese boards, Fritte Fries,  fish and chips are to die for

Oldmonklogo

I think they still serve food?  Hard to tell without a waitress and menus.

Four:  the patrons were not a whip

Can you say West Village!

Five:  Great place to take MOL pastor friends who lean English Pub in their orientation
Dankimball_1

I still may be able to fool some men of the cloth

Six:  I could exercise my usual generous nature in tipping

It has been ten years since I tipped less than 10%

Seven:  It is walking distance from the house.  Hence I can drink more and jack can come with me.

I can still walk there.  But do I want to?

In closing, I am out on Old Monk as a possible replacement for The Barley House.  At least for now.
